About Us

 

Circularity Consulting is the result of a dynamic collaboration between Catharine Hydon and Kerrie O'Neill.

We are bound by our past, studying together over 20 years ago, and through many conversations "finely attuned to the conditions of the present and speculatively open to the possibilities of the future" (Ingold, 2021, p.200)*. We share contemporary beliefs about the circularity of teaching and learning that unites 'us-two' (Yunkaporta, 2019, p 22)* in dialogic conversations that has resulted in a shared vision and renewed purpose for our work.

Circularity Consulting shapes these conversations into a suite of professional learning opportunities for leaders and educators that transform patterns of thinking in early years of teaching and learning.

  • Catharine Hydon

    Catharine Hydon is a principal consultant and co-director at Circularity Consulting. Over the last 12 years Catharine has worked with a range of organisations and governments to understand and articulate quality, and to inspire change. With a Masters in early childhood education, Catharine has extensive experience (over 35 years) in the early childhood sector. Beginning as a teacher in a kindergarten program in the northern suburbs of Melbourne to lead roles in a range of services and projects.

    Catharine's involvement in the early childhood sector is an important part of her commitment to the outcomes for children. Catharine has been a board member of Early Childhood Australia and member of the ECA Code of Ethics working group for the last two reviews. She is a co-author of the recently published Ethics in Action Implementation guide.

    Catharine is a dynamic speaker and collaborative facilitator and is skilled at engaging professionals in reflective dialogue and creative conversations.

  • Kerrie O'Neill

    Kerrie O'Neill is a principal consultant and co-director at Circularity Consulting. She works as a consultant for a range of different organisations - providing coaching, mentoring and training.

    Kerrie's experience with the early childhood sector spans over 30 years. She has worked as a kindergarten teacher, a Director of an Early Learning Centre, a Trainer and Assessor delivering the Certificate III and the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care and as a tertiary level lecturer at Melbourne Polytechnic (formerly NMIT). Kerrie has worked for the Department of Education and Training in Victoria as both an Authorised Officer and as a Senior Policy Officer.

    Kerrie has written training packages for the Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care and the Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care. She has also written a series of 18 textbooks to accompany these qualifications.

    Kerrie is a passionate presenter whose vision is to deliver engaging, interesting and accurate information to early childhood educators.
